Wake-up times for a 12:00 PM flight

A 12:00 PM flight is the easy one. Do not let it fool you
With a 12:00 PM departure you can sleep normally, get up at 8:45 AM without heroics, and still make it comfortably. The trap is different: a relaxed morning is where people lose track of time. Packing "after breakfast", one more coffee, a last email — and suddenly the buffer you had is gone and you are driving too fast. Set the alarm for 8:45 AM anyway, and keep the morning boring.
Set a "leave home" alarm as well as a wake-up alarm — the relaxed morning is the one that runs late.

How this is calculated
| Step | Time | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your flight leaves | 12:00 PM | The fixed point everything else counts back from. |
| Arrive at the airport | 10:00 AM | Airlines want you there 2 h ahead for this flight type, so check-in and bag drop are still open. |
| Leave home | 9:30 AM | Your 30 min of travel time — traffic and parking at 4 AM are kinder, but the train may not be running yet. |
| Wake up | 8:45 AM | The 45 min you need to shower, dress, eat and find your passport without panicking. |
The alarm is the part that fails
Almost nobody misses a flight because they misjudged the traffic. They miss it because the alarm did its job and the person did not. In the first minutes after waking, the rational part of your brain is still offline — swiping an alarm away is a reflex you can perform while asleep, and afterwards you genuinely do not remember doing it. An alarm that only stops when you complete a real task — walk to the bathroom and scan a code, do the squats, solve the maths — forces you awake before your hand can cancel it.
