The Fajr problem

Every one of these pages exists because of one moment: the pre-dawn wake-up. Fajr lands in the deepest part of the night's sleep, and a swipeable alarm is no match for a half-asleep hand. Captain Wake only stops when you complete a real mission — stand up, walk, scan, solve — so by the time the noise ends, you are actually awake for the prayer.

Frequently asked questions

Which calculation method do these pages use?

The convention standard for each region: Umm al-Qura in the Gulf, the Egyptian General Authority across North Africa and the Levant, ISNA in North America, the University of Karachi method in South Asia, and the Muslim World League elsewhere. Each city page states its method.

Why do Fajr times differ between apps and mosques?

Fajr and Isha depend on the twilight angle a method assumes (15°–19.5° below the horizon), so different conventions produce slightly different times. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib barely differ. When in doubt, follow your local mosque.

Do the times include daylight saving?

Yes — every time is shown in the city local time using current timezone rules.

Why people use Captain Wake to wake up on time

Not because it rings louder. Because it removes every way your half-asleep brain talks you back into bed.

There is no button to tap

Swiping an alarm away is a reflex you can perform while still asleep. A mission needs your thinking brain switched on — and once it is on, sinking back under is much harder.

It survives every trick

Force-quit the app, restart the phone, flip it to silent, turn the volume down. The alarm re-arms and keeps going until the mission is actually done.

It gets you physically upright

Photo and barcode missions are anchored to a spot in another room, so the only way to stop the noise is to stand up and walk there. You cannot pre-stage it from bed.

It fixes the night, not just the morning

A sleep forecast before bed, bedtime reminders and wake-up streaks — because the 6 AM problem usually starts at 1 AM.
