A 10:00 PM flight gives you the whole day — and one trap
A 10:00 PM flight means a full day before you travel, which sounds ideal and quietly causes two problems. First, you are exhausted before you board, because a whole day of work plus an evening flight is a long day. Second, if you are crossing time zones, you land at a strange hour with a body clock that has no idea what is happening. Sleep properly the night before, not just the night after — and if you have an early start the next day at your destination, the alarm still matters.
Protect the night before, and plan the wake-up at your destination before you fly.

How this is calculated
| Step | Time | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your flight leaves | 10:00 PM | The fixed point everything else counts back from. |
| Arrive at the airport | 8:00 PM | Airlines want you there 2 h ahead for this flight type, so check-in and bag drop are still open. |
| Leave home | 7:30 PM | Your 30 min of travel time — traffic and parking at 4 AM are kinder, but the train may not be running yet. |
| Wake up | 6:45 PM | The 45 min you need to shower, dress, eat and find your passport without panicking. |
The alarm is the part that fails
Almost nobody misses a flight because they misjudged the traffic. They miss it because the alarm did its job and the person did not. In the first minutes after waking, the rational part of your brain is still offline — swiping an alarm away is a reflex you can perform while asleep, and afterwards you genuinely do not remember doing it. An alarm that only stops when you complete a real task — walk to the bathroom and scan a code, do the squats, solve the maths — forces you awake before your hand can cancel it.
